More than 1,400 Jackson Health System patients are being offered free credit protection services that includes credit monitoring and up to $20,000 of identity theft insurance after their medical records were discovered to be missing.
Although the records were missing since January, hospital officials made the security breach public on Friday.
The records did not include Social Security numbers, credit card numbers or financial statements but Jackson Chief Executive Carlos Migoya has issued a memo saying the hospital system would make several changes to avoid future privacy breaches.
